Meaning Comes From Contribution.
“We spend a lot of time thinking about what we want to get.
More money.
More recognition.
More freedom.
More success.
And there's nothing wrong with wanting those things.
But they rarely provide lasting fulfilment on their own.
At some point, the question changes from:
“What can I get?”
to:
“What can I give?”
Your knowledge.
Your creativity.
Your time.
Your encouragement.
Your attention.
Your work.
Contribution gives those things somewhere to go.
A song that exists only on your hard drive can mean something to you. But when someone hears it at exactly the right moment, its meaning expands.
An idea becomes more valuable when it helps someone think differently.
A skill becomes more meaningful when you use it to make someone else's journey easier.
We aren't only here to accumulate.
We're here to participate.
To make things.
To help people.
To leave places, ideas and people slightly better than we found them.
Fulfilment isn't always found in having more.
Sometimes it's found in being useful to something beyond yourself.
So ask yourself:
What can I contribute today?
You might find that meaning has been waiting on the other side of that question.”
